Angela Unsworth is a professional writer, social media and content strategist, and editor in Victoria, British Columbia.
She graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and worked as a social worker for six years. During this time, she wrote creatively and knew that her passion for writing was something she wanted to focus on. She went back to university and earned a Bachelor of Communications degree, majoring in public relations.
Now she spends all of her time writing, editing and pretty much living her dream life. During her 9 to 5, she works in corporate communications, strategizing, crafting and editing content for presentations, newsletters, website, social media and a variety of other communication materials. After work, she can be found hanging out with her cat and writing short stories and novels.
As a freelancer, in 2017, in collaboration with Carmella Consulting, she created a digital content strategy for Silvertip Golf Resort. She’s also had work published in Condo Living and Where Calgary magazines. She likes to write strategic communication plans, focusing on how communications can help organizations meet business goals. Not only does she love the work, she’s even pretty good at it; during her internship year, she earned a Capital Award – Internal Communications Programs: Award of Excellence from IABC Edmonton. Angela has experience with, and likes to write, grants, resumes and project proposals, and editing anything as simple as an email to a manuscript.
Beyond writing, she also draws, felts, makes creatures out of Sculpey clay, shoots a bow and arrow, dabbles in other creative avenues and attempts to live as much in the moment as she can.
This blog is intended to share her published or unpublished work, talk about her writing process—or the occasional lack of—and meet writers and readers who might enjoy the type of fiction she posts.
